ABOUT BLUE MOON CABIN

Blue Moon Cabin is situated on twenty-three privately owneed acres at the end of a dirt road. The cabin is located just east of the Bozeman Pass and 2 miles south of Interstate 90. Complete directions will be sent with your rental packet.

Blue Moon Cabin is a newly built hand hewn log cabin of almost 1,000 square feet. (625 square feet on the main floor with a loft of about 400 square feet.) There are two beautiful decks – one has distant views of the Bridger Mountains, the other views of the Absarokas. Both decks overlook the forested hills that make up the property on which Blue Moon is located. There is a new hot tub on the back deck! The cabin is comfortably heated with hot water baseboard heat, and there is a ceiling fan located in the main living room area.

(You will need your laptop with wireless antennae, etc. to use the internet service.) Some cell phones do not work here. however, Verizon recently added a tower on the Bozeman Pass, so it is possible to get Verizon cell service, as well as Cellular One.

Bedrooms/bathrooms: There is one loft bedroom with one queen bed and one double bed. One full bath with a lovely, deep claw foot tub is on the main floor. There is a twin fold out bed in the living room.

Kitchen: The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric range and oven, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and all the necessary cooking and dining ware needed. The dining table seats four comfortably. There is a gas grill for fabulous outdoor meals in the summer. The kitchen comes stocked with essentials like salt, sugar, coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

Living room: The living room adjoins the kitchen and dining area. Comfortable furniture provides a great place to relax, read or watch an old movie. There is a television with Dish Network DVR, a VHS/DVD player, a radio with a CD player and plenty of great books to read.

Privacy: Blue Moon Cabin is located next to a large log home inhabited by your host. Though the two structures are close, privacy is plentiful. Your host will be happy to assist you with any needs or answer any questions. Your privacy will be respected at all times.


Activities: There are many activities available in this area, which is known for its beauty and access to miles of wilderness:

Winter Activities:

• Downhill skiing at 3 fabulous close-by winter resorts (Big Sky, Moonlight Basin, Bridger Bowl.) Bridger Bowl, a local favorite, is just 18 miles away.
• Cross-country skiing at world renowned Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky, Bohart Ranch in Bozeman (approximately 18 miles from the cabin) and in Shield’s Valley.
• Visiting Yellowstone National Park in the winter, the BEST time of the year to see animals in all their glory. There are numerous snowshoeing and cross-country skiing opportunities in the Park’s north entrance, which is about an hour’s drive from the cabin.
• Snowshoeing and wildlife viewing right out the front door!
• Hot springs! We are located just 30 minutes from Chico Hot Springs, 35 minutes from Bozeman Hot Springs or an hour from the Boiling River.

Summer Activities:
• Biking. We can arrange to get you a fabulous hybrid, road or mountain bike to rent for your stay here. Some of the finest road and mountain biking exists in this area.
• Hiking opportunities abound. National forest land in just minutes away in all directions. From the Bridgers, to the Absarokas to the Bangtails – there is no end of places to discover.
• World-class fly-fishing. The Yellowstone River and Gallatin Rivers are close-by. Numerous fly fishing guides and shops are available in both Livingston and Bozeman.
• Wildlife viewing. The Park is home to numerous species of wild animals, including wolves, bears, antelope, elk, big horned sheep, moose, coyote and numerous bird species. We can arrange a naturalist guided day in the park with some advance notice.
• Shopping, art galleries, museums. Bozeman is home to the renowned Museum of the Rockies.

You will want to visit some of the fine restaurants that exist in both Livingston and Bozeman. During both the winter and summer months, there are frequent art walks through the many art galleries in downtown Bozeman and Livingston. These delightful evenings usually include wine tasting and a chance to meet with the local artists.

Housekeeping: The rental rate includes an end of stay cleaning. Additional housekeeping, as well as catering, and food shopping can be arranged with a bit of prior notice for an additional fee.

Distance to nearest airport: The Gallatin Field airport, outside of Bozeman, is approximately 35 minutes away.
